Accomplished musician, singer and writer Michael Hannan was born September 9, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. His interest in music began at sixteen when he started playing guitar and learned a popular Bob Dylan tune, Mr. Tambourine Man. Since then he has been influenced by a vast genre of great artists such as Louie Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Beatles, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, and Myhalia Jackson.
These music legends so inspired Michael that he began playing with other musicians. The bands he became involved in had varying degrees of success. By 1995, Michael had become quite a prolific songwriter and had incorporated much of his productive experience and influences into the music. It was at this time Michael met up with Chicago based musicians Michael Prette, George Sarris and Michael Carr. The Rock band Karmaflage was born. A strong chemistry existed between the players and was brought alive by their work with "Mr. Music" Chicagoland producer, engineer, musician, songwriter, Gary Belniak. Their two-year recording project was magic and it evolved into a solo project for Michael.
In 2003, he wrote and recorded four new songs with a new Christian/Gospel influence. His new CD Let's Paint Real Love utilizes the total embodiment of his work with the Karmaflage recordings and marries it with his soul-searching spirit towards a better love for all people in the world.
Michael says leaving a legacy of compassion through his music is the most important aspect of his life now. He hopes he can inspire others to do the same.
Mike is currently writing and recording non-stop now, the subject matter as mentioned above. There is a glimpse of his poems, thoughts, and other assorted sketches on the Poems and Thoughts page.
Michael would love to hear from you regarding his music or with any thoughts you may have. Please see the contact page if you wish to contact him.
